An Unexpected Turn of Events

This coming weekend our church is having a special anniversary celebration. Part of it includes a tent meeting on our future land for our church building and a barbeque picnic afterwards!

The tent was erected yesterday and tonight we had our midweek service on the property. One funny moment occurred when while I was playing the piano, the piano stand collapsed and keyboard, music book and all, landed on the ground and my feet! I was so shocked I just sat there till someone came to help get things back in order. Afterwards, we all had a good laugh about it.

After we all said our goodbyes for the evening, I offered to take my husband out for any meal he would like. He's been working so hard on all the preparations I wanted to give him a little treat. He chose a favorite diner and when we entered, we were greeted by some friends of ours. After a few minutes of chit-chat, we found a booth and sat down to enjoy our date.

We finished just around closing time and headed for the house. This is when we experienced an unexpected turn of events.

As we were driving home we witnessed a speeding vehicle as it careened through a red light just in front of us. I immediately realized if we had arrived at the intersection a few seconds sooner we would have been in his path. After breathing a sigh of relief, we quickly saw that this driver was under some kind of influence. Without getting into too much detail, things did not turn out too well for the speeding driver. Fortunately, an arrest was made and no one was seriously hurt.

All of this reminded me of the bible verse that says, "My times are in thy hand." Psalm 31:15.

It's a wonderful comfort to know that no matter what comes across my path, the Lord has our best interest at heart. That doesn't necessarily mean that all will be roses and sunshine, but that whatever turn of events I face, he'll be there right with me. What a good God he is!

Blessings,
Jessica
