Grammy's Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

I think these are Gus, the Big White Dog's favorite cookies. I made some last night and we shared a few bites together. This afternoon I took a lazy Sunday nap and when I woke up I was craving some of these awesome chewy cookies. So I padded out to the kitchen with Gus at my heals. Naturally, since he's man's best friend, we shared a few more bites (I'm glad he doesn't share his food with me!) Then I headed off to post this recipe.

Trying to look nonchalant, I tucked a couple of cookies in my hand and headed over to my laptop. I placed the cookies on the bedside stand and began typing. As I reached for a cookie, "Guess Who" walks in and peers around the corner? There he was! Looking at me as if to say, "Excuse me, what have we here?" I felt more guilty than a five year old stealing from the cookie jar!

Fortunately for me, my guilt trip only lasted as long as the cookie! So here it is - our family favorite!

1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
1 cup margarine, soft
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups oatmeal
2 cups raisins

Preheat ovent to 350F. In a mixing bowl beat together brown sugar, margarine, eggs and vanilla. In a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, oatmeal and raisins.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and stir until blended. Drop by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet and bake for approximate 7-9 minutes.

Yield: 5 dozen

"I felt more guilty than a five year old stealing from the cookie jar!" So cute!!!

We just dog sat for 14 days for some friends of ours and he is a real begger. Every single time I got something to eat here he'd be with those pathetic eyes :o)

I'm copying down the recipe. It looks yummy. Somewhat good for us too with the oatmeal & raisins (we'll pretend the brown sugar isn't there).
