Summer Delights!

A couple of weeks ago I attended a very special bridal shower with about 25 family and friends. The bride is our niece who will be married on June 14th.

It was hosted at the home of my amazing sister in law, B. I could not imagine a more perfect setting for a garden bridal shower than her 100+ year old farm house.

In the backyard is a tiered herb and flower garden that she cultivates each year.

(Sorry the photo is a bit blurred)

The menu was scrumptious
Pizza quiche
Seafood quiche
Vegetable quiche
Pasta salad
Jello salad
Banana and Strawberry fruit trays

And finally...Since the theme was butterflies and daisies....A beautiful cake in the shape of a butterfly! I didn't get a picture of the cake but take my word, it was a delight.

The afternoon was such fun - visiting with old friends and family - centered around the bright future of the bride and groom. What wonderful memories!

After I said my goodbyes, I got in my car to drive home. And when I did, I was surprised to find a beautifully wrapped gift on the dash of my car. This is what was inside....a beautiful cup and saucer covered in blue pansies!

Isn't it beautiful? And more than the beauty of the set was the demonstration of love by my friend who gave it to me. She took the time to think about and shop for something that would be precious to me. She planned ahead and had it ready to surprise me (we live an hour away from each other). What a treasure, the physical gift, but also the human gift of time and thought. These are things that are what encouraged me most.

This is where I placed it in my home...

I bought this shelf at a yard sale a couple of weeks ago and it fits perfect between my dining and living rooms!

Now I'm off to do a little gardening - getting the sod ready to put in tomatoes, strawberries and raspberries! Yummy. Hard work now but worth it in the end.

Have a great day,
Jessica
