Show & Tell Friday

Welcome to Show & Tell Friday. With cooler temperatures on the horizon today I'm sharing with you my most recent baking delight of Homemade Apple Pie.

Every autumn I buy about 40-60 lbs of apples! Crazy, huh? I peel, core, and slice most of them with my handy-dandy Apple Peeler, Corer, Slicer gizmo. This works great, especially when the apples are still quite firm.

Then the are vacuum sealed for the deep freeze so there will be apples at the tips of my fingers any time of the year. These sealers are great for packaging all kinds of things, not just food items.

So this week, in anticipation of a visit from my mother-in-law, I brought out a package of frozen apples to thaw. The pastry came together great this time (I've taken to cutting in the shortening longer - I'm usually in such a rush).

I don't know about you but lattice topped pies have become my favorite - I've been experimenting lately and I really love the look of them.

I tried something a little different this time. In the past my pies have been overly juicy so I sprinkled a little instant tapioca around the edges before putting on the lattice. All I can say is, "Wow." I'll never make a pie without it again. There just seemed to be so much more substance and it wasn't dried out at all.

I've learned about so many neat treats and treasures at Kelli's Show & Tell so click on over to see the rest of today's displays.

I hope I haven't spoiled your supper! Please subscribe to my blog in the RSS reader. I'll be having a great giveaway soon to celebrate my 100th post.

Regards,
Jessica
