Since mid February I've been doing some seasonal tax work which has seriously cut into my personal blogging creativity. The few minutes of relaxation in the evening I had were used to stay in touch with some of my favorite blogging friends.
But now the tax deadline has passed - I'm free until 2009. So, as a follow-up to my previous post I want to let you in on some of the fun our Ladies' group had last month.
We started out by meeting at C.'s place for bible study and fellowship (snack/food!) - what a great time.
Then I sprung my surprise! As I mentioned before, new friends from West Virginia were arriving the next day and their new home needed a few touches of TLC. So I invited all the girls to join me to hop in our cars and head over to the house to do just that. Once we arrived everyone quickly found something to do...vacuuming, stove and oven cleaning, bathroom detailing, window washing etc. One lady had stopped by earlier in the day and wiped down all the cupboards and refrigerator. What a blessing to put into practice what we knew was the right thing to do.
After most of the cleaning was finished L. & I headed over to the nearby grocery store and picked a few items to stock the fridge with so our friends wouldn't have to worry about their first couple of meals. We even included a large bouquet of flowers in a simple vase.
After we had done all we could, we joined together for a few minutes of prayer on behalf of our new friends.
I must say that I think we have the nicest women in our church family.
James 1:22
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
Blessings,
Jessica
