Show & Tell Friday

Welcome to Show & Tell Friday! I really am glad you've stopped by for a visit and I hope you'll feel free to comment on anything you see here.

This week I'd like to tell you about a very special teapot and my really nice mom.

About five and a half years ago my mother, who lives about 2,000 miles from me, came for a wonderful visit. It was a really nice time because my husband and I had just moved into our very first home that we owned and she helped me to get settled.

One day she and I were out and about shopping and enjoying our time together. We stopped at a local store and came across this teapot. It was on sale for a great price, I think it was about $5.00 and my mom, being of the generous sort, couldn't wait to buy it for me.

As I shared with you a few weeks ago, I have a few special teapots and teacups & saucers but I didn't feature this particular one in the show & tell. And now I know why.

Now just the other day, while browsing at the second-hand store, I noticed a creamer and sugar bowl on the shelf.

Immediately I realized that it looked very similar to my green and white teapot at home. Now, I don't like to waste money so I quickly called home to my dh and asked him to please check the pattern on the green and white teapot and to check the stamp on the bottom. I was happy to hear that yes, it was a match! Then I began to examine the pair for cracks and chips and to my surprise, there were none. I was so happy. Then I noticed the price.....only $2.99 for the set! I knew right then that this was treasure bound for my home.

Yeah! I now had a beautiful matching teapot, creamer and sugar bowl.

The best part was calling up my mom and sharing with her how I found the matching set. It was as if she was just a few blocks away instead of thousands of miles!

And don't you just love a good find at the second-hand store? I sure do.

You can read more
Show & Tell stories at Kelli's house. Why don't you stop over and see all the neat treats!

Blessings,
Jessica

What a great story! I'm not a hot tea drinker but I love teapots! Go figure! My Mom lives about 11 hours away and I miss her a lot. Many times I am doing something that I know she would enjoy and I wish that she were there with me.

What a great story. Wouldn't it be funny if someday you find cup and saucers to match for $1 each.
