Chocolate Surprise Cookies!

What do you get when you cross cookie dough with peppermint patties?

Mmmmm-good!

In the center of the cookies is hidden a delicious peppermint patty
.

You can just barely see the outline in the photo.

Here's the recipe.....

1/2 cup soft butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 Tbsp cold water
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 + 1/2cup + 2Tbsp flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 pkg small peppermint patties (bulk store is a great place to find these)

Combine butter, brown sugar, white sugar and egg together and mix well.

Stir in water and vanilla.

In a separate bowl combine dry ingredients. Add to dough and mix well.

Chill dough for about 30 minutes in the refrigerator. Shape about 1 Tbsp dough around each peppermint patty, making sure the edges are sealed, and then place them about 2" apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake for approximately 7-10 min. or till lightly browned in 400F oven. Makes about 15 cookies.

Blessings,
Jessica

My kids and I LOVE peppermint patties - what a great recipe!

I'm sure it's the kind of thing where you can't just eat one...or two.

Now those look and sound way better than the cheese and crackers I'm currently snacking on....pass one over would ya?

Okay, I clicked on your blog to check out your show and tell, but I was stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the cookies. I can't wait to try out this recipe. Oh my! Nice job with the photography too.
