More Summertime Fun!

Every summer I look forward to making homemade jam. I usually head to the strawberry fields and pick about 20 lbs of berries, stop for an ice cream on the way home and then begin the simple process of making jam.

This past Saturday, as I was shopping at our local wholesale club, I came across a bargain that I just couldn't pass up. Fresh picked strawberries on clearance. I quickly weighed in my mind the 90 degree temperatures outside versus placing already picked berry containers in my shopping cart. This was a no-brainer decision. I was even able to continue my tradition of having an ice cream cone on my way home!

By the time we arrived home it was early evening, so my plan was to wait until Monday morning to begin making jam. But when Monday came it was was way too hot! Nearly 90 degrees with no air conditioning and no end in sight.

I kept putting it off until this morning when I knew if I waited any longer the berries would spoil. Unfortunately, it was set to be the hottest day of the year so far. But I made it through and here's the result....

15 jars of cooked strawberry jam...

3 jars of peach...perfect over fresh pancakes for
tomorrow morning's breakfast

What about you...
do you make time to put up jam for the year?

Blessings,

Jessica

You have been hard at work! The jam looks delicious! Making some of my own is on my summer to-do list.

Looks DEEEEElicious! Would you mind sharing the recipe for your jams? I'd love to have both, if you would.
