Since my view outside the window is white and wintery (and has been for two weeks now with over 2 feet of snow) I thought I would just reminisce for a few moments about my summer patio garden.
My friend Cynthia called me a couple of Christmas' ago and asked if I would help her paint a birdhouse and sign to give to her mother as a gift. I'm not really a painting teacher but as her friend I said I would do what I could to help her out. Well, you can imagine my surprise when she arrived with not only one birdhouse but two! Her husband knew I liked them so he made me one too with some extra wood that he had.
Well, I had a very hard time selecting which design to decorate the house with and thankfully, you can't see the 5 or 6 different layers of paint underneath the finished project! I finally decided to have it basically match the colours on the outside of our home. Then I found a pattern that I could put on three sides and designed my own picket fence and flowers. The arbor with the pink roses is my favourite part. It was finished this summer (like I said, it took me a long... time to decide) and I kept it outside as a decoration with my patio garden.
I would have liked to have had it hung up outside before winter but our heavy snow came early this year and we just didn't get to it. So, for now I have it with the plants I brought inside to winter over. Maybe in the spring I'll get around to hanging it outside and the little chickadees will find a new home!
Thanks for taking the time to read my Show & Tell. I hope it was a blessing to you. Now if you want to see more you can head over to Kelli's at There Is No Place Like Home .
